Kroger publishes a free developer API at developer.kroger.com with product search and detail endpoints (10,000 calls per day). It requires OAuth2 and a per-store locationId lookup to get prices. If you want a simpler path -- one POST request, no OAuth, pre-parsed dietary and SNAP fields, and the same key across 40 platforms -- use Scavio's Kroger API: POST /api/v1/kroger/search returns up to 24 products per call with pricing, dietary flags and stock status, and POST /api/v1/kroger/product returns the full detail for a single item. Each costs 2 credits, about $0.004 on the Growth plan billed yearly. The same endpoints cover every Kroger-family banner: Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, King Soopers and Fry's.
What the search endpoint returns
curl -s https://api.scavio.dev/api/v1/kroger/search \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SCAVIO_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"query": "organic milk"}'On October 25, 2026, this returned 24 products in one call. Each row includes:
{
"upc": "0001111050438",
"name": "Simple Truth Organic Lactose Free 2% Reduced Fat Milk Half Gallon",
"brand": "Simple Truth",
"price": 499,
"promo_price": 399,
"unit_price_display": "$0.08/fl oz",
"is_snap_eligible": true,
"dietary_info": ["Kosher", "Lactose Free", "Pescatarian", "Vegetarian"],
"stock_level": "TEMPORARILY_OUT_OF_STOCK",
"rating": { "average": 3.12, "count": 17 }
}That is pricing (list, promo and unit), SNAP eligibility, dietary tags, stock status, star ratings with the full distribution, images, category breadcrumbs and the product URL, for all 24 results.
What the product endpoint adds
Pass a UPC or product URL to /api/v1/kroger/product and the response adds:
- Store aisle location -- aisle number and side (e.g. aisle 105, left side of PRODUCE)
- Full description -- the marketing copy from the product page
- Country of origin -- "UNITED STATES" for the milk above
- Physical dimensions and weight -- height, width, length and weight
- Breadcrumbs -- the category path (Natural & Organic > Dairy & Eggs > Milk)
This is the data that search alone does not carry, useful for product pages, comparison tools and inventory mapping.
Multi-banner coverage
Kroger is the largest US supermarket chain, operating roughly 2,700 stores in 35 states under Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, King Soopers and Fry's. Scavio's Kroger endpoints cover all banners. Pricing is store-scoped, so the same item can carry a different shelf price and promotion at a Kroger in Dallas versus a Ralphs in Los Angeles.

Frequently asked questions
Does Kroger have a public API?
Yes. Kroger publishes a free developer API at developer.kroger.com with product search and detail endpoints (10,000 calls per day). It requires OAuth2 client credentials and a locationId from the Locations API to return store-specific prices. Third-party APIs such as Scavio offer a simpler alternative: one POST request with a bearer token, no OAuth flow, and pre-parsed dietary, SNAP and nutrition fields.
Can I get Kroger prices for a specific store location?
Yes. When you pass a location to the search endpoint, the returned prices reflect that store. Kroger runs store-scoped pricing, so the same product can differ between a Kroger in Houston and a Ralphs in Los Angeles.
Does the Kroger API cover Ralphs, Fred Meyer and other banners?
Yes. Kroger operates under several banners, including Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, King Soopers and Fry's. Scavio's Kroger endpoints return data across all of them through the same request format.
