Grocery data the official API gatekeeps
Kroger has a developer portal, but access requires approval. Scavio gives you instant access to the same product catalog.
Search
POST /api/v1/kroger/searchSearch by keyword across the full Kroger catalog. Every row carries the price in cents, promo and list prices, unit price, SNAP eligibility, dietary flags, stock level and a rating with its full distribution.
Product detail
POST /api/v1/kroger/productFull product detail by UPC, URL or slug: description, country of origin, nutrition facts with ingredients, allergens and daily values, organic and dietary flags, in-store aisle location, and category breadcrumbs.
All 2 Kroger API endpoints
Both routes are POST, return JSON, and take the same API key. Each costs 2 credits.

}Why not the Kroger developer portal?
Kroger has a developer portal, but getting access is not instant.
Kroger Developer Portal
- Kroger's developer.kroger.com offers OAuth-based APIs for product, location and cart data
- Access requires an application review and approval, which can take days or weeks
- Rate limits and usage restrictions apply, and commercial use terms vary
- Nutrition data and dietary flags are limited in the public API tier
Scavio Kroger API
- Instant access: sign up, get a key, make your first request in under a minute
- Full nutrition facts with ingredients, allergens and daily values on every product
- SNAP eligibility, dietary flags (organic, non-GMO, gluten-free) and stock levels
- One key, 50 free credits on signup, the same JSON envelope as every Scavio platform
Kroger developer portal information is based on publicly available documentation as of October 2026.
What developers build with it

Track prices across Kroger-family banners and compare against Walmart, Target and Amazon Fresh. Prices in cents make arithmetic trivial.
searchNutrition and allergen tracking
Pull full nutrition facts, ingredients and allergen lists for meal planning apps, dietary tracking tools or food-label compliance checks.
productDietary filtering and recommendations
Filter by organic, non-GMO, gluten-free and SNAP-eligible flags to build shopping lists for specific dietary needs.
search + productCPG competitive intelligence
Monitor store-brand vs national-brand pricing, rating distributions and stock levels across the largest US grocery chain.
searchShopping agents and assistants
Give an AI agent Kroger as a tool: search for products, check prices and stock, read nutrition facts, confirm SNAP eligibility.

Kroger API FAQ
Does Kroger have a public API?
+
Kroger has a developer portal at developer.kroger.com, but access is restricted and requires an application review. The Scavio Kroger API provides instant access to Kroger product data through 2 POST endpoints that return structured JSON: product search and full product detail with nutrition facts.
Which Kroger-family stores are covered?
+
The Kroger API covers the shared product catalog used by all Kroger-family banners: Kroger, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, Fry's, Smith's, QFC, Mariano's, Pick 'n Save, Metro Market and others. Kroger operates over 2,800 stores across 35 states.
How much does a Kroger API request cost?
+
Both Kroger endpoints cost 2 credits per request. New accounts get 50 free credits on signup with no card required, enough for 25 Kroger calls. Paid plans start at $30 per month for 7,000 credits.
What nutrition data is available?
+
The product endpoint returns full nutrition facts: serving size, servings per container, a facts array with name, value, unit and daily value percentage for each nutrient (calories, fat, sodium, carbs, protein, vitamins, minerals), the full ingredients string, and an allergens array (Milk, Eggs, Wheat, Soy, Tree Nuts, Peanuts, Fish, Shellfish where applicable).
Are prices in dollars or cents?
+
The price, list_price and promo_price fields are integers in cents (e.g. 429 for $4.29). The price_display field gives the formatted dollar string. Unit price is in unit_price_display (e.g. $0.03/fl oz). This makes price arithmetic and comparison straightforward without floating-point issues.
What is the difference between price, list_price and promo_price?
+
price is the current selling price. list_price is the regular shelf price before any promotion; it is null when no promotion is active. promo_price is the promotional price; null when there is no promotion. When list_price and promo_price are both present, the item is on sale.
Does the API include SNAP eligibility?
+
Yes. Every product in search and product detail carries an is_snap_eligible boolean flag, so you can filter for items eligible for SNAP/EBT benefits.
What dietary flags are available?
+
Search results carry a dietary_info array with flags like Organic, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Vegan and Kosher. The product endpoint adds boolean fields: is_organic, is_non_gmo, is_gluten_free, is_alcohol and age_restricted.
How fresh is the data?
+
Every request reads Kroger live at the moment you call it, so prices, stock levels and product details reflect what Kroger shows at that time. Nothing is served from a cache or nightly snapshot.
Can I look up a product by UPC?
+
Yes. The product endpoint accepts a UPC (Universal Product Code), a Kroger product URL path, or a product slug. Pass any one of the three.
Which languages and tools are supported?
+
Every endpoint is a plain HTTPS POST with a JSON body, so any language works. Scavio also ships Python and JavaScript SDKs, a remote MCP server at mcp.scavio.dev for AI agents, and an n8n community node, all on the same API key.
Is using Kroger data legal?
+
Scavio returns publicly available Kroger data and does not access customer accounts or order history. You remain responsible for how you use the data, including compliance with Kroger's terms. Talk to your own counsel for your specific use case.
