Kroger

Kroger publishes a free developer API at developer.kroger.com (10,000 calls per day, OAuth2 required), which is the right starting point if you only need Kroger and are comfortable managing tokens and the locationId lookup. If you want structured grocery data across all Kroger-family banners with one POST request and no OAuth, start with Scavio's Kroger API. It returns promo pricing, SNAP eligibility, dietary tags and unit pricing in JSON, and works with the same key as Walmart, Costco, Target and 36 other platforms. A request is 2 credits, and Scavio starts from $2 per 1,000 credits on the Growth plan billed yearly. If you need a proxy pipeline you manage yourself, Oxylabs and Bright Data sell Kroger-specific scrapers. Apify actors suit scheduled batch runs.

We build Scavio, so read this with that bias in mind. Every Scavio number below comes from live calls we made on October 25, 2026. Every competitor detail was read off the vendor's own page or documentation that day, and where a price was not published we left it out.

Kroger's banners share data, but not the same shelves

Kroger is the largest US supermarket chain by store count, with roughly 2,700 stores across 35 states under at least six retail banners: Kroger, Ralphs (California), Fred Meyer (Pacific Northwest), Harris Teeter (Southeast), King Soopers (Colorado) and Fry's Food and Drink (Arizona). Product availability and pricing can vary across banners. Scavio's search endpoint covers all banners, so a single "organic milk" call returns products from whichever banner serves the location, with the same JSON fields. If your product compares grocery prices across retailers, querying one endpoint instead of six saves integration work.

1. Kroger Developer API: free, official, Kroger only

Kroger publishes a self-service developer portal at developer.kroger.com. The public tier is free and includes product search (GET /v1/products), product detail (GET /v1/products/{id}) and a location finder (GET /v1/locations). The daily limit is 10,000 calls per client.

There are two things to know before building on it. First, it uses OAuth2 client credentials, so every session starts with a token exchange. Second, grocery prices are store-specific: the Products API will not return pricing unless you pass a filter.locationId, which means a Locations API call first. If you need prices at three Kroger stores, that is four API calls before you see a product. The data it returns includes regular price, promo/sale price, fulfillment availability and aisle locations, but dietary tags, SNAP eligibility and nutrition are raw fields you parse yourself.

Choose this if you only need Kroger, your volume fits under 10,000 calls per day, and you are comfortable managing OAuth tokens and the location lookup.

2. Scavio: structured grocery data across all Kroger banners

Scavio's Kroger API is 2 POST endpoints. Measured on October 25:

  • Search: 24 products per call. Each row includes UPC, name, brand, price, list price, promo price, unit price, n-for deal pricing, size, stock status, SNAP eligibility, dietary tags (Kosher, Lactose Free, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, etc.), category hierarchy and customer rating with distribution. 2 credits; our "organic milk" call took 4.0 s.
  • Product detail: everything from search plus full description, country of origin, temperature class, package dimensions, weight, store aisle location (aisle number and side) and breadcrumbs. Nutrition facts when the product carries them. 2 credits; our call took 11.3 s.

What it does not do: there is no store locator endpoint and no standalone reviews or coupons endpoint. Stock status is per-product (in stock, temporarily out of stock, etc.), not a unit count. Response times suit per-request lookups and moderate batch jobs, not bulk catalog dumps of 100,000+ items.

The benefit is one API key and one JSON format for Kroger alongside Walmart, Costco, Target, HEB, Amazon and 34 other platforms, plus an MCP server for agents.

3. Oxylabs: enterprise Kroger scraper with custom parser

Oxylabs offers a Kroger Scraper API with product, search and URL scrapers, along with a custom parser that returns structured data. It is part of their Web Scraper API product line, where you send a URL or search query and receive parsed output. Choose it if you already use Oxylabs for other scraping work and need Kroger alongside Amazon, Walmart and similar retailers in one proxy account.

4. Bright Data: structured output in bulk

Bright Data sells a Kroger scraper that returns structured JSON. Their platform is built for high-volume collection with residential and datacenter proxy networks. It pairs with their Web Scraper IDE for custom parsing rules. Choose it for large-scale product catalog collection where throughput matters more than per-call cost.

5. ZenRows: anti-bot bypass with pay-per-extraction

ZenRows offers a Kroger scraper with anti-bot bypass, sold as pay-per-successful-extraction. Their API handles JavaScript rendering and returns structured data. Choose it if you prefer paying only for successful extractions and need Kroger as one retailer in a broader scraping pipeline.

6. Apify actors: scheduled batch runs

Apify lists several community Kroger actors. The most complete we found:

  • axlymxp/kroger-product-scraper: supports store-scoped product search, returning prices at a specific Kroger location.
  • getascraper/kroger-scraper: general Kroger product scraper.
  • e-commerce/kroger-product-details-scraper: product detail extraction.

Apify pricing runs about $3.30 per 1,000 products across these actors. Each actor is maintained by its author, so pin the version you test and check update history before relying on it.

7. Spider and Actowiz

Spider offers a single POST endpoint that returns Kroger product data as structured JSON. Actowiz provides a managed Kroger scraping service starting from $500 per month, aimed at enterprises that want delivered data rather than an API to call.

Pick by the number you need

If your application needs grocery prices, dietary data and SNAP eligibility from Kroger alongside other US retailers, Scavio handles it with one key. A search call returning 24 products costs 2 credits. Monitoring 500 search terms daily takes 500 calls, 1,000 credits, about $2 a day at the Growth-yearly rate. That fits inside the $30 Project plan's 7,000 monthly credits. For bulk catalog work above 100,000 items, an enterprise proxy vendor (Oxylabs, Bright Data) is likely more cost-effective, and Apify actors suit scheduled batch runs where you want Apify's cloud infrastructure.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kroger have a public API for product data?

Yes. Kroger publishes a free developer API at developer.kroger.com with product search and product detail endpoints (10,000 calls per day). It requires OAuth2 authentication and a locationId from the Locations API to get store-specific prices. For developers who want a simpler integration, pre-parsed dietary and SNAP fields, or a single key across Kroger and 39 other platforms, third-party APIs such as Scavio return structured JSON with one POST request.

Can I get Kroger data for Ralphs, Fred Meyer and Harris Teeter through one API?

Yes. Kroger operates under multiple banners including Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Harris Teeter, King Soopers, Fry's Food and Drink, and others. Scavio's Kroger API covers all banners through one endpoint, returning the same structured fields regardless of which banner the product belongs to.

Does the Kroger API return nutrition facts?

Scavio's Kroger product endpoint returns a nutrition object when available, along with dietary tags (Kosher, Lactose Free, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, etc.) and SNAP eligibility. Not all products carry full nutrition panels, but dietary classification and allergen information is available on most items.

What is the cheapest way to get Kroger product data?

Scavio's Kroger API costs 2 credits per call. On the Growth plan billed yearly, 1,000 credits cost $2, so one Kroger search returning 24 products costs $0.004. Apify actors run from about $3.30 per 1,000 products. Enterprise proxy vendors such as Oxylabs and Bright Data charge per request or per gigabyte, which is cost-effective at scale but requires you to build and maintain the parser.
