Target

For Target stock by store inside a stock alert, a store-finder or an AI agent, start with Scavio's Target API. Its availability endpoint takes a TCIN and a US ZIP and returns the 20 nearest Target stores in one call, each with in-store, pickup and curbside status, the units Target reports (up to 10), the next pickup date, address, phone and hours. Search and product calls take a store_id and return that store's price. Every Target call costs 1 credit, and Scavio starts from $2 per 1,000 calls on the Growth plan billed yearly.

You need a third-party option because Target does not offer an open one. Its developer surfaces serve approved partners, suppliers and Target Plus sellers working on their own items and orders. On target.com you check stock by choosing Edit store, searching a ZIP and reading the list, one product at a time, and Target's own product availability help page says it "cannot guarantee the accuracy of product information" because "availability changes quickly."

We build Scavio, so read this with that bias in mind. Every Scavio number below comes from live calls we made on November 3, 2026. Every competitor detail was read off the vendor's own page or documentation that day, and where a detail was not published we say so. The screenshots are each vendor's own Target page, captured the same day.

A Switch 2 is on the shelf near downtown LA, but half the stores are down to their last few

Stock at Target is a per-store number. One availability call for the Nintendo Switch 2 console (TCIN 94693225) at ZIP 90012 returned the 20 nearest Los Angeles stores in 3.3 seconds.

Units of the Nintendo Switch 2 console at the 20 Target stores nearest ZIP 90012 on November 3, 2026: 10 stores showed 4 or fewer, including Glassell Park and Mid City out of stock and USC Village with 1, while 8 stores showed 10, the most Target reports

10 of the 20 stores showed 4 units or fewer. Glassell Park and Mid City were out of stock, USC Village had 1, and Bonnie Brae and Eagle Rock had 2, while LA Central, Glendale and six others showed 10. Silver Lake showed 3 units in store but pickup and curbside both came back unavailable, so a shopper there would have to walk in. The price was not the variable: the console was $499.99 at the two stores we priced, and the product response's price_location_id was 3991, Target's default with no store context, rather than either store's id. The same call at ZIP 60601 found 4 of 20 Chicago stores at 4 or fewer, and at ZIP 75201 5 of 20 Dallas stores, with none sold out in either city.

A scarcer item shows the other end. The Nintendo Switch 2 Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition console, released on October 29, was out_of_stock at all 20 Dallas stores on November 3. Near ZIP 10001 it was out of stock at 8 stores in Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey and not_sold_in_store at the other 12, which tells you those stores do not carry it at all rather than that they sold out.

Read the unit count as a low-stock signal, not an exact on-hand figure. Across 100 store rows from five calls, no store showed more than 10, and a 6 Triple Roll pack of Bounty Select-A-Size paper towels showed exactly 10 at 19 of 20 Dallas-area stores. Ten means "10 or more"; 1 to 9 is where the number tells you something.

1. Scavio: stock, pickup and price at the stores near a ZIP

Scavio Target API page, captured November 3, 2026

Scavio's Target API is 5 POST endpoints. Measured on November 3:

  • Availability: a TCIN and ZIP return up to 20 stores nearest first, with store_id, distance_miles, quantity, in_store, pickup, pickup_date, curbside, address, phone and 7 days of opening hours, plus the item's street_date. Our eight availability calls took 0.6 to 6.4 s. Pass store_id to keep one store, or radius (1 to 100 miles) to widen the search. 1 credit.
  • Search at a store: a store_id prices every row at that store. "whole milk" at Manhattan Herald Square (3277) and Dallas Cityplace Market (875) returned the same 24 products; 15 cost more in Manhattan, 2 cost less and 7 matched. A gallon of Good & Gather whole milk was $4.79 in Manhattan and $2.69 in Dallas. Rows carry TCIN, DPCI, price, regular price, sale flags, rating and badges. 1 credit.
  • Product: full detail by TCIN with store_id and a price_location_id that says whose price you got: 3277 or 875 for the milk, 3991 (Target's default, no store) for the Switch 2. 1 credit.
  • Category and reviews: a category's products at a store's prices with the breadcrumb, and the rating histogram with up to 8 review bodies (the Switch 2 had 1,028 ratings and a 3.76 average). 1 credit each.

What it does not do: units stop at 10 and a call returns at most 20 stores, so a chain-wide sweep is one call per area. Ship-to-store status was null at most stores in our captures. Product and search do not carry stock; that is the availability call's job. On an item sold in sizes, product detail returns the family's price range, so read one size's store price from its search row. Category and reviews calls took 8 and 3 seconds, and there is no stored history: you build one by calling on a schedule. The benefit is one key and one JSON format for Target alongside Walmart, Home Depot and Amazon, plus an MCP server for agents. How to check Target stock by store walks through each call with captured responses.

2. RedCircle API: store stock on a request plan

RedCircle API store stock documentation, captured November 3, 2026

Traject Data's RedCircle API is a Target-only API with search, product, reviews and category requests, plus a type=store_stock request that takes a TCIN, DPCI, GTIN or URL and a store_stock_zipcode and returns "up to 20 stores within a 50 mile radius", with an only_in_stock filter. Each store row carries store_id, in_stock, address, phone, distance and stock_level, documented as "the quantity of stock available in the given store, if shown"; pickup and curbside are not in the store stock results. Other request types are localized with customer_zipcode to the nearest store, and each plan caps how many custom ZIP codes you can set (1 on Hobbyist, 5 on Starter). Plans billed yearly run from $18 a month for 500 requests to $66 for 10,000 and $375 for 250,000; the trial is 100 requests with no card, and only successful requests count. The pricing page does not say whether a store stock request costs more than one request.

3. Apify Target Availability Scraper: TCIN lists across whole states

Apify Target Availability Scraper actor page, captured November 3, 2026

harpoon/target-availability-scraper takes a list of TCINs or product URLs and one or more states, or every US state, and returns one row per product per store with stock_quantity, in_store_status, pickup_status, pickup_date, store id, address and the product's price. It has no ZIP input, can cap stores per TCIN, and drops sold-out stores unless you ask for them. The listing's price line reads "from $0.80 / 1,000 product-store rows" while the README says $1 per 1,000 rows; it had 3 total users and no ratings on November 3. Like every actor it runs as a job that writes a dataset, which suits a nightly export more than a check inside a request, and it is maintained by one community author.

4. Apify Target Shop Scraper: ZIP-based runs by TCIN

Apify Target Shop Scraper actor page, captured November 3, 2026

getdataforme/target-shop-scraper-client takes TCINs or product URLs and a ZIP, and returns nearby stores with available_quantity, in_store_status, order_pickup_status, curbside_status, ship_to_store_status, store id, address and distance. It is priced "from $9.00 / 1,000 results" and paid per event, had 6 total users, 0 monthly users and no ratings on November 3, and its README describes the quantity field only lightly. Choose it if you want a no-code run that already matches Target's own store fields.

5. Unwrangle: one product at one chosen store

Unwrangle Target Product Data API documentation, captured November 3, 2026

Unwrangle's Target Product Data API takes a target.com product URL and an optional store_no (default 3991); the docs say the store "affects product availability and pricing information." The documented fields cover price, reduced price, ratings, specifications, images, return policy and a purchase limit, but no list of stores and no per-store unit count, so answering "which nearby store has it" takes one call per store and still yields no count. Each product request costs 2.5 credits, and plans start at $99 a month for 100,000 credits, about $2.48 per 1,000 product calls. Search and reviews APIs sit alongside it.

6. Bright Data: product records in bulk

Bright Data Target Price Scraper API page, captured November 3, 2026

Bright Data's Target Price Scraper collects product id, title, brand, category, price, original price, discount, promotions, shipping cost and "stock availability" from product URLs, up to 5,000 per call, with an optional zipcode; separate scrapers discover products by keyword, category URL or UPC. No store id, in-store status or unit count is documented. It costs $1.50 per 1,000 records pay-as-you-go, or $499 a month for 384,000 records with more at $1.30 per 1,000, and the free tier is 5,000 records a month with no card. Its separate Target Inventory Tracker is a managed service "starting from $2000/month" that tracks stock by SKU and brand and does not mention store locations. Choose Bright Data when you need national prices for a large catalogue, not the shelf at a given store.

Pick by the number you need

If your users act on whether a Target near them has an item, how few are left and whether they can pick it up today, keeping those statuses current is the ongoing work, and it is what Scavio's Target API absorbs. Checking 200 SKUs across about 50 stores every day is 600 availability calls a day if the stores sit in three metros of 20, which is 18,000 credits a month: about $36 at the Growth-yearly rate of $2 per 1,000 credits. The same coverage is 300,000 product-store rows a month, which the harpoon actor's listed rates put at $240 to $300, and 18,000 RedCircle requests, above the 10,000 in its $66 Starter plan. Watching one hot item at the 20 stores in one metro every hour is 720 credits a month, about $1.44. Try the Target API free, 50 credits, no card, or run the availability call in the playground.

Frequently asked questions

Does Target have a public API?

Not for reading products, prices or store stock. Target's developer surfaces serve approved partners, suppliers and Target Plus marketplace sellers working on their own items and orders. To check what a Target store has, developers use a third-party API, an Apify actor or a data service instead.

How do I check if a specific Target has something in stock?

On target.com, open the product, choose Edit store, search a ZIP code and pick Find stores; in the app you change your store under the Account tab. Through an API, Scavio's Target availability endpoint takes a TCIN and a ZIP and returns up to 20 nearby stores, each with in-store, pickup and curbside status and the units Target reports. Add store_id to get one store.

Is Target's in-store inventory accurate?

Target itself says it cannot guarantee the accuracy of product information and that availability changes quickly. Treat a status as Target's current promise rather than a shelf audit. Counts also top out at 10: on November 3, 2026, 19 of 20 Dallas-area stores showed exactly 10 units of one Bounty paper towel pack, so 10 means 10 or more.

What is the cheapest Target inventory API?

Per store checked, Scavio is cheapest in this comparison: its availability call is 1 credit, about $0.002 on the Growth plan billed yearly, and returns up to 20 stores, so about $0.10 per 1,000 store rows. The Apify Target Availability Scraper lists $0.80 to $1 per 1,000 product-store rows, and RedCircle API starts at $66 a month for 10,000 requests billed yearly.

Why does Target show only 10 in stock?

Target reports at most 10 units for a store. Across 100 store rows we pulled on November 3, 2026, for a Nintendo Switch 2, a pack of paper towels and a third item, no store ever showed more than 10, and a best-selling paper towel pack showed exactly 10 at 19 of 20 stores. Below 10 the number is useful as a low-stock signal.
