What will the Reddit API
cost you each month?

Enter the keywords and subreddits you monitor. See the requests and rate limit on the official Reddit Data API next to a published monthly price for the same workload.

Your Reddit workload

Official Reddit Data API

  • 15 listings × 4 checks60 req/day
  • 20 comment trees20 req/day
  • Requests per month (30 days)2,400
Free-access rate limit1.5 / 100 QPM

Each check bursts 15 requests, 1.5 QPM over the 10-minute window; the daily average is 0.1 QPM.

Comment search is not in the documented search endpoint, which returns posts, subreddits and users. Those 40 comment searches a day have no official equivalent.

No published price

Business use needs Reddit's written approval and a contract. Reddit sets fees at its sole discretion and publishes no per-call rate.

From Reddit's Data API Wiki, Responsible Builder Policy and Data API Terms, as of October 2026. Assumes each check needs at most 100 items per keyword or subreddit.

How Reddit API pricing works in 2026

As of October 2026, Reddit has no public price list for its Data API. Free access is for approved, non-commercial apps and is limited to 100 queries per minute per OAuth client id, averaged over 10 minutes. Any use by or for a business needs Reddit's written approval and a contract, and the Data API Terms leave fees to Reddit's sole discretion. So the honest answer to "what does the Reddit API cost" for a company is: whatever the contract says, after an approval you may not get.

Rate limits are rarely the problem for monitoring. Ten keywords and five subreddits checked four times a day is 60 listing requests a day, well under the limit. The blockers are the approval step, the unknown price, and the missing comment search: the documented search endpoint returns posts, subreddits and users only.

The Scavio Reddit API bills every endpoint at 1 credit per request, with published plans from $24 a month billed yearly. It covers post and comment search, subreddit feeds, threads with comments, users and trending. To try it on a few keywords first, run the free Reddit keyword monitor, then run the same searches daily through the API.

How to use the Reddit API cost calculator

  1. 1

    Describe your workload

Enter how many keywords and subreddits you track, how many times a day you check them, how many result pages you read per check, and how many threads you open for comments.

  2. 2

    Check the official limits

The calculator converts the workload into Reddit Data API requests, checks it against the 100 queries-per-minute free-access limit, and shows what Reddit's terms say about price for business use.

  3. 3

    Compare the Scavio price

The right-hand column turns the same workload into Scavio credits at 1 credit per request, multiplies by 30 days, and picks the smallest plan that covers it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Reddit API cost?+

Reddit does not publish a per-call price. As of October 2026, its Data API Terms say Reddit may charge fees at its sole discretion, and its help center says any use by or for a business needs Reddit's permission and a contract. Non-commercial use is free within the rate limit once your app is approved.

Is the $0.24 per 1,000 API calls figure official?+

It is widely quoted, but it does not appear on any current official Reddit page we checked in October 2026 (the Data API Wiki, the Data API Terms, the Responsible Builder Policy and the developer access article). This calculator leaves it out for that reason.

What is the Reddit API rate limit?+

For free access, 100 queries per minute per OAuth client id, averaged over a 10-minute window. Requests without OAuth are blocked. The calculator shows both your daily average and the burst each check creates against that limit.

Do I need approval to use the Reddit API?+

Yes. Reddit's Responsible Builder Policy says you must request access and get explicit approval before accessing any Reddit data through the API, and commercial use needs explicit written approval.

Can the official Reddit API search comments?+

The documented search endpoint returns posts, subreddits and users. Comment search is not in it. Scavio has a dedicated comment search endpoint at 1 credit per page, which is why the calculator counts it only on the Scavio side.

How is the Scavio cost calculated?+

Every Scavio Reddit endpoint costs 1 credit per request. Each keyword, subreddit and comment page you fetch is one request, so credits per day = (keyword post searches + keyword comment searches + subreddit feeds) x checks per day x pages per check + threads x comment pages. Monthly credits are that number times 30, matched to the smallest plan billed yearly.

How many results does one Scavio request return?+

Measured on live responses in October 2026: a post search page returns about 7 posts, a comment search page about 8 comments, a subreddit feed page 6 to 24 posts, and a comment page about 7 top-level comments. Use more pages per check if you need more results per keyword.

Which Scavio plan fits a typical social-listening setup?+

Ten keywords and five subreddits checked four times a day, with comment search and 20 threads opened a day, is 120 credits a day or 3,600 a month. That fits the Project plan at $24 a month billed yearly (7,000 credits).

Do I need a Reddit developer account to use Scavio?+

No. You use a Scavio API key. There is no Reddit app to register and no approval queue. New accounts get 50 free credits on signup, no card required.

Is this calculator free?+

Yes. It runs in your browser, makes no API calls and has no usage limit.
