App Store and Google Play
keyword rank checker

Check your app's keyword ranking in both stores

App store optimization comes down to one question per keyword: when someone searches it, where does your app show up? This tool runs that search in the country storefront you pick, finds your app in the results by its App Store ID, bundle ID or Google Play package name, and gives you the exact position and the apps ranking above you. If your app is not in the results, it tells you how many results it checked instead of guessing.

App marketers use it to see whether a title, subtitle or short description change moved the app for the keywords that drive installs. ASO agencies use it to report keyword positions for clients across both stores and to show which competitors hold the top spots, with their ratings, review volume or install band and price next to each one.

Each store check is one call on the Scavio API, so tracking a whole keyword list every day is a short script. See everything the App Store API and the Google Play API return, including full app listings and paged reviews. To read what users say about the apps above you, use the app reviews export.

How to check your app's keyword ranking

  1. 1

    Type the keyword users search

Enter the search a user would type into the store, for example habit tracker or budget app, and pick the country storefront you want to check.

  2. 2

    Paste your app

Paste your App Store link or numeric ID, or your Google Play link or package name. The tool works out the store from what you paste. To check both stores in one run, add your app in the other store.

  3. 3

Read your rank and the competition

See your position for the keyword in each store, or how many results the check covered when you are not in them, and the top 10 apps with rating, rating count or installs, developer and price.

Frequently asked questions

What does the app keyword rank checker show?+

For one keyword and one country: your app's position in App Store search, Google Play search, or both, and the top 10 apps for that keyword with title, developer, rating, rating count (App Store) or install band (Google Play), category and price. Your own row is highlighted, and if you rank below 10 it is shown under the top 10.

How deep does the check go?+

On the App Store the check reads up to the top 200 apps Apple returns for the keyword, so not ranking means not in the top 200, or in the smaller number shown when the keyword has fewer results. Google Play returns one page of results per search, usually around 20 to 30 apps, and the tool tells you the exact number it checked. The tool always states that number rather than guessing a rank beyond it.

Which app links and IDs can I paste?+

For the App Store: an apps.apple.com link, the numeric ID (the digits after id in the link, like 1232780281), or in the second box your bundle ID. For Google Play: a play.google.com link or the package name (the id= part of the link, like com.spotify.music). The store is worked out from what you paste; a bare dotted ID in the first box is read as a Google Play package name.

Can I check the App Store and Google Play at the same time?+

Yes. Paste your app for one store, click Also check, and paste your app for the other store. One run then searches the same keyword in both stores and shows each rank and each top 10 side by side, which is the quickest way to see where a keyword works for you and where it does not.

Why is my rank different from what I see on my phone?+

Store search results move with the storefront, the device, the user's history and time, and they change as apps update their metadata. The check runs a neutral search in the country you pick with no personal history, which is closer to what a new user sees than your own phone. Run the same keyword a few times over a week before reading much into one move.

Why does Google Play show installs instead of rating count?+

Google Play search results carry the rating and the install band (like 10,000,000+) but not the number of ratings. The App Store search results carry the rating count. For a Google Play app's full rating breakdown, the Google Play app endpoint returns the star histogram for one app.

Which countries can I check?+

The US, the UK, Canada, Australia, India, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Sweden, Brazil, Mexico, Japan and South Korea. Each store is searched in that country's storefront and language, so titles and prices come back as local users see them.

Is it free?+

Yes. You get 5 free rank checks a day with no account. For more, get an API key: 50 free credits on signup, no card required.

Can I track app keyword rankings every day?+

This page is a one-off check. To track rankings over time, run the same calls through the API from a cron job, n8n, Make or Zapier and store each day's positions in a sheet or database. An App Store search is 1 credit and a Google Play search is 2 credits, so the Project plan at $24 a month billed yearly (7,000 credits) covers about 75 keywords a day in both stores. The full JSON for every app in the results is available via the API.

Can I use this in my own code?+

Yes. POST /api/v1/appstore/search with { "term": "habit tracker", "country": "us", "limit": 200 } returns data.apps, where each app has pos, app_id, bundle_id, title, developer, rating, rating_count and formatted_price. POST /api/v1/googleplay/search with { "query": "habit tracker", "gl": "us", "hl": "en" } returns data.results with pos, app_id, title, developer, score, installs and price_text. Match your app_id to get your rank.
