What is the Scavio eBay API?
The Scavio eBay API is a REST API that returns public eBay data as structured JSON. You send a keyword, item id or seller to one of 3 POST endpoints with your API key, and get back live listings with units sold, watchers and bids, full item detail, or a seller's storefront and feedback record.

Which listings actually sell?
Every search row carries price, units sold, watchers and bids, so you can price against the asks people act on. The response on the right is a real capture, field names and all.

}Why not eBay's Browse API?
It is first-party and free, and it sits behind a developer application and OAuth.
eBay Browse API
- Requires a developer account, application keys and an OAuth token flow
- Exposes active listings; sold history sits in the restricted Marketplace Insights API
- Rate limited per application, with call ceilings by tier
- Seller trust data requires separate calls and scopes
Scavio eBay API
- One API key, issued at signup — no developer account, no OAuth
- Units sold, watchers and bids on every search row, up to 240 listings a call
- Flat 1 credit per call across all three endpoints
- Same key and JSON envelope as 30 other Scavio platforms
Scavio returns publicly available listing data only, and never authenticates as an eBay user.
What developers build with it
Resale and appraisal pricing
Price against the listings people act on. Each row carries units sold, watchers and bids, so you can separate the asks that sell from the optimistic ones sitting unsold.
searchArbitrage and sourcing
Find listings priced below the band where units are selling, then check condition, item specifics and seller feedback before committing.
search + product + sellerBrand protection
Watch for counterfeit or grey-market listings of your products, with seller feedback attached so you can prioritise the accounts doing real volume.
search + sellerCollectibles and market tracking
Store a daily pull of asks, near-close auction bids and units sold to build your own price index for cards, sneakers, watches or parts.
searchAgent shopping tools
Point an agent at the MCP server and eBay becomes a callable tool — what does this usually sell for, is this listing a good price — with one key.
MCP + RESTHow to get eBay data as JSON
- 1
Get an API key
Sign up for a Scavio account and copy your key from the dashboard. You get 50 credits free on signup, with no card required and no eBay developer application.
- 2
POST a query, item id or seller
Send {"query": "wireless headphones", "per_page": 240} to https://api.scavio.dev/api/v1/ebay/search with an Authorization: Bearer header. All three endpoints are POSTs.
- 3
Read the JSON
The response wraps the payload under data, plus credits_used and credits_remaining. Search returns products with page, count and total_results, so you page by incrementing page.
eBay API FAQ
What is the Scavio eBay API?
+
It is a REST API that returns public eBay data as structured JSON. Three POST endpoints cover live listing search, full listing detail, and seller storefront data. You authenticate with a Scavio API key.
Who are these endpoints for?
+
Resellers and arbitrage sellers pricing inventory; developers building marketplace or valuation features; AI agent builders wiring eBay in as an MCP or SDK tool; automation engineers running price checks inside n8n, Zapier or Make; brand managers watching for counterfeits; and collectors tracking category prices. Same API for all of them.
Can I get sold prices, not just active listings?
+
Not at the moment. Since late August 2026 eBay shows sold and completed listings only to signed-in users, so sold: true returns an explicit 400 error, and it is not billed. Live listings still carry units sold on multi-quantity listings, watchers and auction bids, which bracket a market price.
How is this different from eBay's official Browse API?
+
eBay's Browse API requires a developer account with keys and OAuth, and it exposes active listings. Scavio also returns active listings, with one API key and no developer account, and each search row carries units sold, watchers and bids alongside price and seller feedback.
How much does an eBay request cost?
+
Every eBay endpoint costs 1 credit, and a search returns up to 240 listings. New accounts get 50 free credits on signup, one time, with no card required. Paid plans start at $30 per month for 7,000 credits.
What does the response look like?
+
The API wraps the payload under a data key and adds credits_used and credits_remaining. A search result carries item_id, title, condition, price, shipping, bids, time_left, sold_count, watchers and seller feedback, alongside query, page, count and total_results.
Does it cover eBay sites outside the US?
+
Not yet. All three endpoints read ebay.com, which lists sellers worldwide. The url each response echoes back shows exactly which page was read, so a stored response is self-describing.
Which languages and tools are supported?
+
Official Python (pip install scavio) and JavaScript/TypeScript (npm i scavio) SDKs, a remote MCP server at mcp.scavio.dev for AI agents, and an n8n community node. Any language can call the REST endpoints directly with an HTTP client.
Is scraping eBay data legal?
+
Scavio returns publicly available listing data and does not access private account data or authenticate as a user. You remain responsible for how you use the data, including compliance with eBay's terms. Talk to your own counsel for your specific use case.
