Does Walmart's API Give Real-Time Store Prices and Inventory? Here Is How to Get Them

Yes, you can get a Walmart store's live price and stock through an API. Scavio's Walmart API takes a store_id and delivery_zip and returns that store's current price, in-stock status, pickup and delivery options and the aisle the product is in, read from walmart.com at the moment you call. Find the store id with /api/v1/walmart/stores and a ZIP code. A store-targeted product or search call costs 2 credits, about $0.004 on the Growth plan billed yearly, and needs no Walmart account.

The question comes up again and again on Reddit. A developer on r/learnprogramming asked whether Walmart's API allows real-time access to store prices and inventory, and the replies were doubtful; one answered that Walmart "doesn't even have real time access to inventory and pricing". On r/webscraping, another could scrape product pages but needed store-specific aisle data. Both are answerable in two calls.

What Walmart itself offers

Walmart's Marketplace APIs are for sellers and solution providers managing their own items, inventory and orders, so they do not read another store's shelf. Walmart.io has an affiliate and partner price and availability endpoint that is store- and ZIP-specific and returns an available quantity, but it requires Walmart.io onboarding with a linked application and OAuth client credentials, takes up to 20 offer ids per call and defaults to a San Bruno ZIP when you do not pass one. If you qualify for that program, it is the official route. If you do not, or you also need search, reviews and sellers, the public product pages carry the store's price and stock, and that is what Scavio reads.

Step 1: Find the store

The nearest store to ZIP 10001 came back as the Secaucus Supercenter, store_id 3520, with its address (ZIP 07094), type, distance, coordinates and opening hours. ZIP 60601 returned the Chicago West North Avenue Supercenter, store 5402.

Step 2: Ask for the product at that store

Same item, same hour: $4.25 in aisle A37 in Secaucus and $2.53 in aisle A23 in Chicago. The location object always tells you which store answered.

Step 3: Do it for a whole shelf with search

Each result carries the store's price, availability_status, out_of_stock and a fulfillment block with pickup and delivery flags. Run at five stores on October 26, 2026, the seven Great Value fresh milk items differed by 54% to 76% between the cheapest and dearest store, and an egg search at a California store returned no conventional white eggs at all. What "real time" means here, and its limits

• Live, not cached: each store-targeted call reads walmart.com for that store when you make it, so the price is the one a shopper there sees at that moment.
• Status, not unit counts: Walmart's product pages show whether an item is in stock, not how many are on the shelf, so the response gives availability_status and out_of_stock. Only Walmart.io's partner endpoint lists an available quantity.
• Slower than a normal call: store-targeted calls took 30 to 59 seconds in our test, against about 5 to 10 seconds for an untargeted one, and they cost 2 credits instead of 1. Batch them on a schedule rather than calling per page view.
• US and Canada: store targeting works on walmart.com and walmart.ca.

Checking 200 products at 3 stores once a day is 600 calls and 1,200 credits a day, about 36,000 a month: $72 on the Growth plan billed yearly. Pricing the same products through search pages instead, a few dozen per call, cuts that to a fraction.
