Get any YouTube
video's transcript
Paste a link and get the full transcript in seconds — copy it or download the text.
A free YouTube transcript generator
YouTube hides the transcript behind a menu and lays it out one line at a time. This tool pulls the whole thing at once and gives you clean, copy-ready text — no scrolling, no clicking through the little caption panel.
Use it to summarize a long video, pull a quote, turn a talk into notes, or hand the text to an LLM. No login to start.
How to get a YouTube transcript
- 1
Copy the video link
Open the video on YouTube, copy the URL from the address bar or the Share button. Any youtube.com or youtu.be link works.
- 2
Paste it into the box
Paste the link above and hit Get transcript. We pull the video's captions and lay them out as clean text.
- 3
Copy or download
Copy the transcript to your clipboard or download it as a .txt file — ready for notes, summaries, subtitles, or an LLM.
Frequently asked questions
Which videos work?+
Any public YouTube video that has captions — whether the creator uploaded them or YouTube auto-generated them. Paste a youtube.com/watch, youtu.be, or Shorts link.
Is the transcript accurate?+
It's the exact caption text YouTube serves. Creator-written captions are the most accurate; auto-generated ones are good but can miss punctuation or the odd word.
Can I get timestamps (SRT)?+
This tool gives clean plain text. The same endpoint can return timed SRT subtitles via the API if you need timestamps.
Is it free?+
Yes — you get free transcripts with no account. Sign up free to keep pulling more on your own Scavio credits.
What can I do with a transcript?+
Summarize a long video, search it for a quote, turn a talk into notes or a blog post, translate it, or feed it to an LLM as context.
What if a video has no captions?+
If captions are disabled there's nothing to pull, and you'll see a clear message. Most public videos have at least auto-generated captions.
Can I get transcripts for a whole channel?+
Yes, at scale — the same POST /api/v1/youtube/transcript endpoint returns transcripts programmatically, so you can pull an entire channel's back-catalog in code.
Build with the YouTube API
