How X API pricing works in 2026
As of October 2026, X sells API access to new developers on pay-per-use pricing. You buy credits and pay for every resource a request returns: $0.005 for each post read and $0.010 for each user read. Posting costs $0.015 per post. Pay-per-use stops at 3 million post reads a month; above that you need an Enterprise contract.
Because the bill counts posts rather than requests, cost scales with every result. Reading 200,000 posts a month is $1,000 before any profile lookups.
The Scavio X API bills per request instead. Every endpoint is 1 credit and a search or timeline page returns about 20 posts. It is read-only, so teams that also publish keep the official API for posting.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the X API cost?+
As of October 2026, X's developer pricing page lists pay-per-use pricing: $0.005 per post read, $0.010 per user read and $0.015 per post created, with a higher rate for posts that contain a link. You buy credits up front and pay per resource.
Is there still a free or Basic X API plan?+
As of October 2026, X's official pricing page lists only pay-per-use for new developers, with Enterprise above the monthly read cap. It does not list the old Free, Basic or Pro subscriptions.
Is there a monthly limit on X API reads?+
Yes. As of October 2026, pay-per-use is capped at 3 million post reads per monthly billing cycle. Above that X requires an Enterprise plan, and Enterprise pricing is not published.
How is the X API charged per read?+
Per resource fetched. A search that returns 100 posts is 100 post reads, so 100 × $0.005 = $0.50. Volume grows with every post in every response, not with the number of requests.
How is the Scavio cost calculated?+
Scavio bills per request, not per post. Every X endpoint is 1 credit, and a search or timeline page returns about 20 posts, so 200,000 posts is about 10,000 credits. The calculator shows the smallest plan that covers your credits, billed yearly, and the usage cost at $2 per 1,000 credits.
Can Scavio post to X?+
No. Scavio's X API is read-only: search, posts, replies, retweeters, user profiles, timelines, followers, followings, communities and trending topics. Keep the official API for publishing.
What X data can I read with Scavio?+
Tweet search (Top, Latest, People, Photos, Videos), single tweets with replies and retweeters, user profiles, tweets, replies and media, followers and followings, communities and trending topics by country.
Do I need an X developer account for Scavio?+
No. You use a Scavio API key. There is no X developer app to register and no X credits to buy.
Are these prices current?+
The official rates come from X's developer pricing page as of October 2026; X notes that prices are subject to change. Scavio prices come from the live Scavio plan table.
Is this calculator free?+
Yes. It runs in your browser, makes no API calls and has no usage limit.
