A free Reddit thread reader
Reddit threads are hard to read outside of Reddit — the UI is built for scrolling, not for exporting. This tool fetches the post body and the full comment tree and lays them out as clean, readable text.
Use it to archive a valuable discussion, feed a thread to an LLM for analysis, or just read it without ads and popups. No login to start.
How to read a Reddit thread as text
- 1
Copy the post URL
Open the post on Reddit and copy the URL. Links from reddit.com, old.reddit.com, and redd.it short links all work.
- 2
Paste it above
Drop the URL into the box and tap Read thread. We fetch the post body and its comment tree and lay them out as clean text.
- 3
Copy or download
Copy the thread to your clipboard or download it as a .txt file. Feed it to an LLM, save it for research, or reference it later.
Frequently asked questions
Which Reddit links work?+
Any public post URL from reddit.com, old.reddit.com, or a redd.it short link. The post must be public — private subreddit posts can't be fetched.
Do I get all the comments?+
We fetch the top-level comments and their replies. Very deep or collapsed threads may be truncated, but you get the most relevant discussion.
Is this free?+
Yes. You get 5 free thread reads a day with no account. Sign up free for more on your own Scavio credits.
Can I use this for deleted posts?+
No. If the post or comment has been deleted by the author or a moderator, the content is gone and we can't recover it.
What can I do with a Reddit thread dump?+
Feed it to an LLM for summarization, save it for competitive research, mine it for sentiment, or archive a valuable discussion before it goes away.
Can I pull threads programmatically?+
Yes. The same Reddit endpoints are available via the Scavio API. Fetch post details and comments as structured JSON from your own code.
Do I need a Reddit account?+
No. This tool does not require any Reddit credentials. Paste a URL and get the thread back.
