Frequently asked questions
Will the person know I viewed their story?+
No. The lookup runs on our servers against the public account, so you're never added to the story's viewer list — it's fully anonymous.
Whose stories can I download?+
Any public account's active stories. Private accounts only show their stories to approved followers, so those can't be fetched here.
What if the account has no stories?+
Stories disappear after 24 hours. If nothing is active right now, you'll see an empty result — check back when they post.
Do I get photos and videos?+
Both. Photo stories download as images and video stories as MP4, at the quality Instagram serves them.
Is the Instagram story downloader free?+
Yes. The first three lookups are free with no account. After that, sign up free to keep going on your own Scavio credits.
Do you store the stories or usernames?+
No. Files stream straight through to your browser and nothing is saved on our servers.
Can I use this in my own code?+
Yes. The tool runs on the Scavio Instagram API. The same POST /api/v1/instagram/user/stories endpoint returns story data programmatically.
