competitor is running

A free competitor ads lookup

Every ad a brand runs on Facebook, Instagram or Google is public, but it sits in two separate libraries with two different searches. This tool checks both at once and puts a competitor's ads side by side: what they say, what they show, when they started and where they run.

Use it to build a swipe file before a campaign, see which offers a competitor keeps paying for, spot a new product launch from its ads, or brief a client on their market. Long-running ads are the ones worth studying. For every ad an advertiser runs, see the Meta Ad Library API and the Google Ads Transparency API.

How to see a competitor's ads

  1. 1

    Enter the competitor

Type the brand name, like Nike, or its website, like nike.com. A website gives the most precise Google results.

  2. 2

    Search both ad libraries

We check the Meta Ad Library and Google Ads Transparency at the same time and match the brand to its advertiser account on each.

  3. 3

    Study their ads

Browse each network's ads with creative, copy, call to action, start date, platforms and status, and open any ad in its public library.

Frequently asked questions

Where do these ads come from?+

From the two public ad transparency libraries: the Meta Ad Library, which covers Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Audience Network, and Google Ads Transparency Center, which covers Search, YouTube, Shopping, Maps and Play. Both are public by design, so you can see any advertiser's ads.

What does each ad show?+

Meta ads show the creative image or video thumbnail, the ad copy and headline, the call to action, the start date, whether it is still active and which platforms it ran on. Google ads show the creative when Google archives one, the format, the first and last dates it was shown and how many days it ran.

Should I search by brand name or website?+

Either works. A website such as nike.com is the most precise for Google, because Google indexes advertisers by domain. A brand name is matched to the advertiser's Facebook page and to their Google advertiser account.

Why do I see ads from other companies?+

If no Facebook page matches the brand name, the Meta tab shows US ads that mention the name instead, and says so above the results. For that advertiser's ads only, paste their numeric Facebook page ID.

Is the competitor ads lookup free?+

Yes. You get 5 free ad lookups a day with no account. Sign up free to keep looking up competitors on your own Scavio credits, export swipe files and pull every ad an advertiser runs.

How many ads can I see?+

The free tool shows up to 12 ads per network. Through the API you can page through an advertiser's entire library: the Meta advertiser endpoint returns 30 ads on the first page and continues with a cursor, and Google ads search returns up to 100 per page.

Can I see how much a competitor spends on ads?+

Not for commercial ads. Meta publishes spend, reach and impressions only for political and issue ads, and Google does not publish spend for commercial advertisers. What you can see is how long each ad has run, which is a useful proxy: ads that run for months are usually the ones that perform.

Which country's ads are shown?+

The free tool reads the US Meta Ad Library and Google ads shown in any region. Through the API you can choose the country for Meta and filter Google ads by region, format and surface.

Can I get alerts when a competitor launches new ads?+

You can build that with a free account. Each ad comes with its start date, so a scheduled call to the API can flag new creatives the day they appear.

Can I use this in my own code?+

Yes. POST /api/v1/meta-ads/search and /api/v1/meta-ads/advertiser return Meta ads as JSON, and POST /api/v1/googleads/advertisers followed by /api/v1/googleads/search returns Google ads. These are the same calls this tool makes.

Build with the ad library APIs

This tool runs on Scavio's Meta Ad Library and Google Ads Transparency endpoints. Pull every ad a competitor runs into your own pipelines, dashboards and agents.
