Scrapers give you more control over what data you extract, but they break when sites change their HTML. When the API Wins

If your data need maps to what search engines already index (business listings, product prices, web page titles and snippets, YouTube video metadata, Reddit thread titles), a search API is the faster and more reliable path. When the Scraper Wins

If you need data that is not indexed by search engines (internal dashboard data, behind-login content, specific page elements like pricing tables or product specifications in custom formats), you need a scraper.
